Miami University

held its philanthropic event, “Puttin’ on the Hits,” for
St. Rita’s School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio. Alpha Chapter members were also featured on the cover of Miami’s Greek newspaper after the university’s Greek Convocation.

Epsilon
Indiana University

held its annual, Greek-wide Turtle Tug competition, which reached out for individual team donations as well as sponsorships from local businesses.

Theta
Ohio State University
held its successful Big Man on Campus philanthropy event to support Columbus Speech and Hearing.

Alpha Alpha
Northwester University

co-hosted the Greek Idol event with Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) to raise money for GreekBuild, which works to unite the Northwestern Greek community and does philanthropic projects, and the AKA Scholarship Ball.

University of Alabama

encouraged students to go pink by wearing the color at the school’s football games to heighten awareness about breast cancer.

Ohio Wesleyan University

co-hosted the Sadie Hawkins Dance with the Sisters United organization to benefit People in Need, which helps people with emergency needs by hosting a food pantry and offering housing and medical services assistance.

Alpha Sigma
Florida State University

placed second with Phi Kappa Tau in the Torch Pursuit competition during Homecoming. The chapter also marked its 15th year in participating in the university’s biggest philanthropy, the Dance Marathon, to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network at Shand’s Children’s Hospital and The FSU College of Medicine’s Pediatric Outreach Program. Brittany Guthrie, Past Chapter President, was the Director of this year’s event.

Alpha Upsilon
University of Maine

participated in the campus Panhellenic Council’s All Sorority Gala, a celebration of female Greek Life. Seven sororities came together for a formal dinner to recognize the service they give to their community.

Beta Gamma
University of Louisville

participated in the MS Walk, raising $530 for the National MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society. Three members volunteered at The Painted Turtle camp, and the chapter received the Spirit of Service Award and the Collaboration Award to spread alcohol awareness.

Beta Delta
University of South Carolina

raised over $14,000 to benefit Gallaudet University, The Starkey Hearing Foundation, The Painted Turtle camp and a local school at the Turtle Tug. The chapter participated in the Spurs and Struts Greek dance competition and hosted an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fundraiser to raise money for children’s cancer research. Members also volunteered at the Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive in honor of the late Caroline Terry ’03 and added 219 names to the National Bone Marrow Registry.

University of Tennessee/Knoxville
was among the seven finalists in the Smokey’s
Howl dancing and cheerleading competition during Homecoming.

Six members were chosen to be Pi Chi leaders for 2010 recruitment.

Beta Tau
Nebraska Wesleyan University

hosted the university-wide Nacho Fest/Taco Tuesday to raise money for a local elementary school’s Christmas program and Gallaudet University.

Eastern Michigan University

received the Excellence in Leadership Development and Excellence in Citizenship recognition from the university’s Greek Life Council. The chapter also had the highest ratings in overall excellence.

Delta Beta
University of Tampa

Four members were part of The Starkey Hearing Foundation’s Super Bowl Experience, featuring American Idol stars Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta. The women traveled to Miami, Florida to distribute teddy bears equipped with hearing aids during the event.

Delta Delta
Georgia State University

participated in the Greek Life-organized cooperative service event, The Big Greek Give. Donations were given to various philanthropies and 1,700 canned food items were donated to United Way.

Delta Phi
Northeastern State University

gave treats to students during Reading Day at the university library.

Gamma Alpha
Baldwin-Wallace College

won first place in the Lip Sync competition during Greek Week. Mallory Yankush, past President, was named Greek Goddess. The chapter also won Best T-shirt during Homecoming, while supporting the manufacturer of the shirts that plants one tree in the rainforest for every t-shirt sold. The annual Teeter-Totter philanthropic event was a success, as was a tree trimming event with alumnae.
