Christine Boucher Carr Beta Alpha ’90 (University of Rhode Island) has written a new book entitled, “Mother Daze … Tales from the Imperfect Playground.” The book salutes women, and especially mothers, for all they accomplish in their busy lives. “It's a pleasure to celebrate women and remind them of their worth,” Chris says. A physical education teacher at a public elementary school in Rhode Island for the past 16 years, Chris raises three young children with her husband. Amy E. Castronova Xi Rho ’01 (Clarkson University), president and CEO of Novatek Communications, Inc., was elected to Clarkson University’s board of trustees to serve on the marketing and student affairs committees. Novatek is a technical documentation and training company in Rochester, New York. Amy was President of the Xi Rho Chapter as a collegian.

Susan Snell Delaney Gamma Phi ’61 (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), Indiana (PA) Alumnae Chapter President, was recognized for her service on the IUP Council of Trustees since 1987 with a residence hall named in her honor on the IUP campus. Susan was a council chairperson and vice chairperson at various times during her tenure.

Bonnie Thuma Hawley Delta Upsilon ’76 (Marshall University) was recognized for her leadership in rehabilitation by the Virginia State Rehabilitation Council when she received the Roy J. Ward Employee Leadership Recognition Award. Bonnie is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and is currently the president-elect of the National Rehabilitation Association (NRA), and also serves on the National Association of Rehabilitation Leadership Board of Directors.

Dr. Cynthia Manninen Kring Lambda Theta '76 (Michigan Technological University) won the USA Hockey National Championship Recreational Division for Women Over 50 as a member of the hockey team Mostly Michigan.
Cathy Lentz Luke Gamma Pi ’93 (Western Michigan University) published her book, “Precious One: An Ultrasound Keepsake.” She created “Precious One” to provide parents with a unique keepsake book to cherish their baby’s ultrasound photos, while celebrating the bond between mother and child. Senator Jane Gray Nelson Iota Psi ’70 (University of North Texas) received numerous accolades for her work during the 2009 legislative session. She worked to pass tax relief for small businesses, expand access to health care and help victims of family violence. She engineered the state's reform plan to protect Texans with disabilities living in state and community residential facilities. She also created a peer counseling program for veterans returning from duty overseas. "The leadership skills I learned as President of my chapter, as a Chapter Consultant [now Educational Leadership Consultant], and as a Province Director, have been helpful to me as a public servant."

Lucie Parker Osborn Beta Chi ’69 (Wittenberg University) was recognized for her work as librarian at the Laramie County Library System of Cheyenne, Wyoming, named by the Library Journal and Gale Cengage (a world leader in e-learning research for libraries) as the 2008 Library of the Year. The library boasts cutting-edge technology in its newly constructed building, which also received a Gold certification as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building for its design, which embraces the capital city’s urban and civic character, as well as the wide-open spaces of surrounding landscape.

Nancy Rose Peduzzi Zeta Epsilon ‘74 (California University of Pennsylvania) Gold Coast Alumnae Chapter President, ran the 27th Athens Classic Marathon in Greece, her first international marathon and 16th overall marathon since 2001. The race covered 26.2 miles from the city of Marathon to Athens, retracing the steps of the ancient Greek soldier-runner Fidippides, who ran to Athens to bring the victorious message of the Athenian army over the Persian army. The race finished in the magnificent Olympic Stadium, which was host to the first Olympic Games of the Modern Era in 1896.
